Hi, I’m Wendy!
First, you are probably wondering what is a Culinary Nutritionist?
Culinary Nutrition Expert + Registered Holistic Nutritionist = Culinary Nutritionist
It’s just another fancy name to combine two things I am passionate about…Food and Nutrition.
Now, the big story is how did I get to this point? I suffered for years with gastrointestinal issues and finally was diagnosed with an enzyme deficiency causing me food allergies and sensitivities at age 28.
Truth is, living with food allergies is hard. Food becomes the enemy and is a constant stress. Since everyday, and every occasion revolves around food it’s hard to escape. Fact is, I felt like I had a weird eating disorder, and my relationship with food was getting worse everyday.
I realized this was no way to live.
I vowed to educate myself and learn to cook better.
In 2009 I did just that, I graduated with honours from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and started my own part-time nutrition consulting business called “Food, Love and Happiness”.
During that time I started cooking one new recipe a week and rediscovered a rare love of food. I’d say that’s pretty amazing considering where I was a couple of years earlier.
Meanwhile, I was still working full-time shift work for the #1 television company in Toronto and quickly became aware that I was doing too many things at once and needed to slow down.
My husband and I decided to start a family in 2012 and I put my business aside until we figured out life with a child. After maternity leave I went back to shift work and life became crazy stressful in every way possible.
Once again, we both found ourselves doing too much at once and we quickly started to burn out. We knew we couldn’t continue living the way we were. So, we made a huge life decision and packed up our city life and moved back to the small town I grew up in.
We have choices to make in life.
Sit back and complain or move forward and make a change.
Giving up a 16 year television career to be a stay at home mom at the age of 40 was not an easy decision. It was time to do something I was passionate about again…cooking! I can proudly announce, in December 2014 I graduated with honours from the Academy of Culinary Nutrition.
This brings me to here…my new website Wendy Rose Nutrition where I will share with you my original recipes.
The focus will be on cooking from scratch, an emphasis on plant-based foods and everything else in between that inspires me.
With lots of gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, refined sugar-free and paleo-friendly options!
I’m constantly learning new things about food and it excites me.
